The project area is located in the “navigli district”, a key area of the city of Milan as regards recreation and activities in the craft/creative industry. This is one of the most important focal points of the urban planning program drawn up as part of the PGT (Territorial Management Plan) currently in force in Milan. This also means the project area will become even more central and prestigious in the near future than it already is, due to its close proximity to a private university campus that is constantly growing and expanding. Its close links with the NABA makes this project area the most important satellite area in a residential hub customised to the needs of both students and young professionals. The building winds around a courtyard: a manifold system of pathways that spread and compress together to set the private residential spaces over various different levels, always allowing new realms of socialising to be created. The courtyard, which contains one big tree (Celtis Australis – Bagolaro) that dominates the area and acts as a linchpin and landmark, shelters the inhabitants of the new residential system by means of a basement-enclosure, which, at the same time, guarantees the utmost visual permeability.
